John O’Doherty re-appointed to National Gallery board
KOD Lyons managing partner John O’Doherty has been re-appointed to the Board of Governors and Guardians of the National Gallery of Ireland for a further two years.
Mr O’Doherty has served on the board since 2019 and was elected as its vice-chair last year.
He is a prominent criminal defence solicitor and chaired the Law Society’s criminal law committee until recently. He is also the sole Irish representative on the criminal law committee of the European Council of Bars and Law Societies.
Catherine Martin, the minister for tourism, culture, arts, Gaeltacht, sport and media, said: “I wish to thank [fellow re-appointee] Dan Flinter and John O’Doherty for their service on the board over their first terms and I am pleased to renew their board membership.
“I am sure that they will both continue to provide strong and effective leadership and guidance as members of the board and I wish them continued success in this important role.”
Mr O’Doherty told Irish Legal News: “I am really honoured to have been given the opportunity to continue our important work with the National Gallery for a further term.
“The arts play a vital role in Irish society and I’ve enjoyed contributing to the success of the board and the gallery. I look forward to the work ahead.”
