NI: Judge Ian Forrester elected president of Franco-British Lawyers’ Society
Judge Ian Forrester QC has been elected president of the Franco-British Lawyers’ Society.
Judge Forrester is the third Scottish judge to serve as president, following in the footsteps of Lord Prosser and Lady Dorrian.
Lord Hope of Craighead KT PC FRSE, a supporter and patron of the society since its inauguration at the Cour de Cassation in Paris in 1990, presided over the reception in the House of Lords.
The society is open to practitioners, judges, teachers and students of the law, it has the support of the French ambassador in the UK and the British ambassador in France.
The society has sections located in France (Paris), England and Wales (London), Northern Ireland (Belfast), Scotland (Edinburgh) and Luxembourg.
Judge Forrester succeeds Bâtonnier Bernard Vatier, who has been president of the FBLS for the past three years.
The board also elected Charles du Couëdic de Kerérant as new general secretary.
