Judge Patricia Smyth appointed as presiding County Court judge
Judge Patricia Smyth has been appointed as presiding County Court judge and Recorder of Belfast.
The five-year appointment by the Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland, Dame Siobhan Keegan, will take effect from Monday.
Judge Smyth was educated at Queen’s University Belfast and called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 1986. She was appointed as a County Court judge in February 2010.
In 2018, she became the first serving County Court judge to be appointed as a deputy High Court judge.
