Justice sector translation tenders collapse after bidder’s complaints
Three tenders for multimillion euro contracts for translation services in the justice sector were scrapped following complaints from a bidder, the Irish Independent reports.
Tenders with a combined value of between €7.5 million and €9 million have been cancelled in the past 13 months.
The tender process fell apart after Word Perfect Translation Services Ltd alleged the competition was run in a flawed way.
It said it was not chosen for the tenders despite offering a cheaper service than competing bidders.
The company also initiated High Court proceedings in two cases.
The contracts were to provide interpretation or translation services for An Garda Síochána, the Courts Service, the HSE, the Immigration Service, the Legal Aid Board, Department of Social Protection, Department of Justice and the Prison Services.
