The Times has profiled outgoing Law Society director general Ken Murphy, who retires after 26 years in the role.
“Sitting in the spring sunshine in the rose garden behind the Law Society’s Blackhall Place HQ in central Dublin, Ken Murphy, the society’s director-general for the past 26 years, has the air of a man who, while not quite ready to step away from public life, is thrilled to be done with the daily toil.
“For Murphy, the ultimate society nabob who was first voted on to its governing council in 1983 when he was a 27-year-old partner at A&L Goodbody, that’s saying something. The man who loves travelling both around Ireland and abroad for face-to-face meetings has found the last year of enforced video-call meetings a drag.”
