Kennedys appoints insurance litigator and casualty specialist David Strahan as partner
Global law firm Kennedys has announced the appointment of insurance litigator and casualty specialist David Strahan as a partner in Dublin.
Mr Strahan, who called to the Bar before becoming a solicitor, joins from Arthur Cox to become the firm’s fifth partner in Ireland.
Specialising in insurance-related disputes for domestic and international insurers and their insureds, Mr Strahan splits his work between complex insurance disputes, high-volume insurance defence work and standalone commercial disputes for policyholders.
Kennedys, which has one of the largest dedicated insurance practices in Ireland, has a headcount of 46 in Dublin, comprising five partners, 33 fee earners and eight secretarial and business services staff.
Senior partner Nick Thomas said: “David’s recruitment is the latest step in our strategic drive to grow our international insurance capabilities. To ensure our clients stay on top of the many challenges they face across the world, we are always looking to grow the breadth and depth of expertise available to them.”
Insurance partner Andrew McGahey, who heads up the Dublin office, said: “I am delighted to welcome David to Kennedys. His skills will add to our growing capacity to provide our global and domestic clients with leading advisory and dispute resolution capabilities and he will strengthen our existing relationships with our global and domestic clients.”
Mr Strahan added: “Kennedys is the perfect fit for me given the high-quality work it does, the blue-chip clients it has and the strong reputation it enjoys.
“Kennedys provides the best platform for me to continue to provide my clients with the service they require and to grow and develop the firm’s practice in Ireland. I am really looking forward to being part of the team.”
