Kerida Naidoo SC to be appointed to High Court
Kerida Naidoo SC has been nominated for appointment as an ordinary judge of the High Court.
His appointment will increase the size of the bench, having been appointed to fill a vacancy created under section 8 of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2021, which allows the statutory complement of judges to be exceeded by one.
The provision to create an additional vacancy is intended to be used only “where considered necessary in the interest of the administration of justice”.
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Mr Naidoo was called to the Bar in 1995 and to the Inner Bar in 2015.
The government said it has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
