Kevin Kelly wins this year’s Bréagchúirt Uí Dhálaigh
Kevin Kelly, a legal executive at Hayes Solicitors who is currently completing the barrister-at-law degree, came first in this year’s Bréagchúirt Uí Dhálaigh organised by Gael Linn, representing The Honorable Society of King’s Inns.
Mr Kelly, who graduated last year with a degree in law with French from University College Dublin, said on LinkedIn: “This year’s case, judged by Ms Justice Butler, Her Honour Judge Ní Chúlacháin and Cormac Ó Dualacháin SC in the Supreme Court, focused on the law of negligence, the parental duty of care and the role of the family in the Constitution and was extremely interesting to prepare.
“Ba mhór an pribhléid an gradam a ghlacadh ar ais chuig Óstaí an Rí ar cheiliúradh 25 bliana na Bréagchúirte, a bunaíodh in ómóis d’iar-Uachtarán agus d’iar-Priomhbhreitheamh na hÉireann Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh. Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil le gach duine a bhí páirteach in eagraíocht an chomórtais, agus do gach duine in Ostaí an Rí a chabhraigh liom ullmhucháin a dhéanamh don chomórtas.
“Many thanks to all those who attended the moot and who assisted me in my preparation, namely Cillian McGovern BL and The Honorable Society of King’s Inns, and to Eimear Brown and Diane S. for their kind acknowledgement of my achievement at this evening’s dining ceremony.”
