Mr Flood, a practising barrister, joined ILN as case reporter in November 2020 and has since written more than 400 summaries of judgments at virtually every court level.

Commenting on his latest appointment, Mr Flood said: “I am very happy to announce that I will be taking up a role as a feature writer with Irish Legal News from September 2023. The articles will focus on a variety of topics, from in-depth analyses of current affairs in Irish law to personal experience pieces to legal history.

“Naturally, this means that I will move on from my time as case reporter. Since December 2020 I will have produced 433 reports, which is about 14 per cent of all judgments in that time. Thankfully, my legal practice has developed to where this output is unsustainable.

“I’ve always enjoyed writing, so I’m looking forward to the new position while still focusing on my day job as a barrister. Finally, many thanks to our readers who have supported the case reports over the years, the future is bright for the next reporter!”
