Lady Chief Justice to launch new book on Northern Ireland's Court of Appeal

The Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland will next month launch a new book exploring the history of Northern Ireland’s Court of Appeal.

Dame Siobhan Keegan and retired appeal judge Sir Donnell Deeney will speak at the launch of The Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland by Dr Conor McCormick and Professor Brice Dickson.

Published by Bristol University Press, the book demonstrates the Court of Appeal’s pivotal role in securing justice, both by correcting lower court decisions and by developing the common law. It examines, in particular, how the court has applied and developed the rule of law in a post-conflict society.

Authored by two experts in the law of Northern Ireland, it draws on archival research, statistical and qualitative case analyses, court observations and exclusive interviews with senior judges.

Tickets for the launch event, taking place at the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast on Monday 18 November 2024, 5pm-7pm, are available via Eventbrite.
