Last chance to respond to DSS review survey

Lawyers have until 6pm today to respond to a survey feeding into the statutory review of the effectiveness of the Decision Support Service (DSS).

An online survey being conducted by Governance Ireland on behalf of the Mental Health Commission (MHC) is closing for submissions today.

The Law Society of Ireland has urged members to use the survey to highlight issues with the enduring power of attorney (EPA) system.

In an email issued earlier this week, Law Society president Eamon Harrington said: “If you have had any interaction with the DSS in relation to their functions such as the enduring power of attorney process, I urge you to take this important opportunity to share your experience with the Mental Health Commission (MHC) through this survey and help inform recommendations for improvements.”

He added: “The Law Society will continue to press for changes to be introduced so any person who wants to put an enduring power of attorney in place can do so without unreasonable obstacles being placed in their way.”
