NI: Law Centre (NI) wins positive settlement for care worker made redundant
Law Centre (NI) recently acted for a worker in the Northern Ireland care industry who was made redundant.
The worker alleged that the contract she worked on transferred from her employer to a new provider and issued proceedings for unfair dismissal on grounds of failure to consult under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations.
The Regulations protect employees when a business changes hands.
The case was settled for £5,000 two months before the hearing, with the respondents denying liability.
Law Centre (NI) has developed expertise in representing employees in TUPE cases. Advisers encountering similar cases are welcome to contact the Law Centre’s employment legal advice line, 028 9024 4401, 9.30am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.
