Law lecturer wins human rights funding for project
A project led by law lecturer Dr Clíodhna Murphy of Maynooth University and one of her university colleagues has been awarded funding under the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Grants Scheme 2016.
Dr Murphy, along with Professor Mary Gilmartin in the Department of Geography, were awarded €16,500 for their project, Integration Policy in Ireland Through the Lens of Human Rights and Equality.
The year-long project aims to conduct an audit and human rights review of migrant integration policy across the public sector, mapping the extent to which such policies conform to best practice identified in international human rights law.
It is one of a number of projects supported by the IHREC this year.
Emily Logan, chief commissioner of the IHREC, said: “The Commission is very pleased to make these funding awards which we believe will make a genuine contribution to creating a more an inclusive Ireland where human rights and equality are respected, protected and fulfilled for everyone, everywhere.”
