NI: Law Society in warning over fraudulent Trade Mark Office calls
The Law Society of Northern Ireland has warned solicitors to be wary of fraudulent phone calls purporting to be from the Trade Mark Office.
Members of the legal profession have reported calls from fraudsters seeking to obtain contact information and/or bank account details.
According to a notice circulated by the Society, businesses have received calls from a person with an English accent - calling themselves either Ben or Sean - claiming to be calling from the Trade Mark Office regarding a website domain issue.
Other fraudsters have claimed to be calling from a representative body seeking to obtain the contact details of the MD or CEO.
The Law Society has advised people who receive the phone call to terminate it immediately and contact the PSNI on 101.
