NI: Law Society of Northern Ireland to attend plaque unveiling at Zambia school
Representatives from the Law Society of Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth Law Association (CLA) are set to attend a special plaque unveiling in Zambia next week.
Brian Speers, vice-president of the CLA and treasurer of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, will join the Rt Hon Baroness Scotland of Asthal QC, secretary-general of the Commonwealth, at the official unveiling of a plaque and a new mural at Linda Community School in Livingstone, Zambia next week.
The special event is taking place as part of the CLA’s annual conference from 8-12 April 2019.
The school, situated in a very disadvantaged area of Livingstone and catering for 470 vulnerable children, is supported by the Zambezi Sunrise Trust, which has received support from the legal community through the Law Society and the CLA.
Commenting in advance of the unveiling of the plaque and new mural, Brian Speers, vice president of the CLA and treasurer of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, said: “The CLA and Law Society are delighted to be supporting the Zambezi Sunrise Trust which is providing much needed resources and support to local school children.
“I would like to congratulate the Local school children and volunteers who have been working hard painting the mural on the rear of the school ready for its official unveiling next week.”
