NI: Law Society raises over £5,400 at Legal Walk/Run
The Law Society of Northern Ireland has announced that over £5,400 was raised at this year’s Legal Walk/Run charity event.
The event in Belfast on Friday 11 May raised a total of £5,476.50 and further donations are still being accepted on JustGiving.
The annual event is organised by the Law Society to support the work of Marie Curie Northern Ireland, a charity that provides care and support for people with a terminal illness.
Now in its second year, over 200 people participated in 2018, including solicitor firms, members of the judiciary, barristers, law students and support staff took part and offered their support.
Eileen Ewing, president of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, said: “Despite the heavy rain on the day I was delighted that so many colleagues took part and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated, offered support and helped make the second Legal Walk / Run such a resounding success.”
Ciara Gallagher, head of philanthropy and corporate partnerships for Scotland & NI at Marie Curie UK, said: “Marie Curie is most appreciative of all those who took part in the Legal Walk/Run 2018. The monies raised will go towards supporting families across Northern Ireland facing terminal illness.”
