Law Society to save €2.5m following vacant site levy appeal
The Law Society of Ireland is expected to save around €2.5 million over the next three years after winning a vacant site levy appeal.
A one-acre portion of land owned by its subsidiary, Benburb Street Property Company Limited, was placed on the vacant site register by Dublin City Council in 2018.
The site adjoins the Law Society’s Blackhall Place campus and had incurred a vacant site levy charge of €260,000 for 2018.
The land has been removed from the vacant site register following appeal to An Bord Pleanála, the Law Society Gazette reports.
Taking into account an increase in the levy rate and an increased valuation of the site, the decision is expected to save the Law Society around €2.5 million over a three-year period.
