NI: Law Society warns of bogus banking emails circulating
The Law Society of Northern Ireland has issued a warning to its members regarding bogus banking emails which are circulating and targeting legal professionals and businesses.
The Law Society said it is aware of reports of three variations of the same bogus email, which invites the recipient to click on documents which contain potential virus or malware.
The bogus email looks legitimate, however it has been confirmed by one of the banks named in the bogus email that they have never issued any email communication and what is being sent is a scam.
The Society has warned all solicitor firms to be on “high alert” and to delete these bogus banking email scams when they receive them, as they present a clear and present threat.
