The Irish Red Cross has invited law students to enter this year’s Corn Adomnáin, its annual international humanitarian law (IHL) competition.

Teams of three have until the end of January to sign up for the competition, which will take place at Dublin City University on Saturday 23 March 2024.

The full-day competition focuses on a fictitious armed conflict and sees teams take part in scenarios addressing key issues of IHL and take on different roles throughout the day, such as humanitarian worker or legal advisor to the military.

These scenarios include a virtual training scenario where students must advise a military mission in real time on the rules of war.

The day finishes with a moot court judged by members of the judiciary, academics in IHL, members of the Irish Defence Forces, and staff from the Irish Red Cross and ICRC.

More information about the competition can be found on the Irish Red Cross website or by contacting Sarah West at ihl@redcross.ie or on (01) 642 4600.
