Lawyers Against Homelessness raised €38k at Christmas event

Lawyers Against Homelessness raised nearly €38,000 for the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People at its Christmas CPD event last year.

The successful event on Thursday 28 November 2024 brought the legal initiative’s fundraising total to over €455,000 since 2017.

Guest speakers at the Christmas event included Court of Appeal president Ms Justice Caroline Costello and High Court judge Ms Justice Emily Egan, as well as senior solicitors and barristers.

“We raised €37,955 at the last event, every cent of which goes directly to the centre,” Arthur Cush BL told Irish Legal News on behalf of the organising committee.

“This brings the total we have raised through the events to over €455,000.

“We understand from speaking with Father Kevin and CEO Brian Friel that they are very grateful for the support they receive from the legal profession.”

Lawyers Against Homelessness has organised 15 CPD events since it was founded by barristers and solicitors just under eight years ago.
