Lawyers and politicians to go head to head in charity rugby match
Solicitors and politicians are set to compete at a charity rugby match in aid of Rugby Players Ireland’s injured players trust.
The charity fixture will take place this Saturday 18 November at 12pm in Donnybrook stadium hosted by Old Wesley RFC.
Senator Neale Richmond captains the Dáil and Seanad team, made up of Senators, TDs and Oireachtas staff. Ministers Eoghan Murphy and Damien English will team up as the centre pairing while coach Senator Catherine Noone will hope former Leinster second row and now TD, Jim O’Callaghan, can shrug off a shoulder injury to tog out.
Meanwhile, solicitor Michael Carney captains the Law Society team, which features two former professional players in the guise of Simon Keogh and Louis Burke, who are now both practising solicitors.
The match is part of a regular series of charity games run by the Dáil and Seanad team, with running costs met by match sponsor, law firm Whitney Moore, to maximise the amount of money raised for the fund that supports former players who have suffered life-changing injuries.
