Lawyers urged to ignore fake email from Supreme Court
The Courts Service of Ireland has urged law firms to ignore and delete a scam email purporting to come from the Supreme Court office.
The offending emails carry the subject line: Supreme Court (S.I. No691/2017)) – Immediate Action Required.
The emails have reportedly been received by a number of law firms on both sides of the Irish border.
A spokesperson for the Courts Service said: “The email refers to a changed or new statutory instrument and asks firms to open a PDF attachment and to provide certain details by this Friday.
“This attachment attempts to divert the user to a website outside the jurisdiction. All lawyers are advised not to provide any details or answer this mail.”
