Letter: Not all barristers on same page

Letter: Not all barristers on same page

Dear Editor,

Following Monday’s general meeting of The Bar of Ireland in Dublin, colleagues asked if I would run in the forthcoming Bar Council elections. I was flattered but not convinced.

While I would love to help steer the Bar Council in solving the problems highlighted at the meeting, I believe that the lopsided composition of the Council needs to be reviewed and reformed.

Victims of crime and those wrongly accused need to be certain that The Bar of Ireland has their interests in mind and not just the fee structure for prosecution and defence barristers. The rule of law demands this.
