Limerick courts complex to be delayed to next year
The opening of the new Limerick Criminal Courts Complex has been delayed until next year, the Limerick Leader reports.
The multi-million euro building, with six courtrooms, custody areas and offices, was originally intended to be completed by the end of October.
However, a spokesperson for the Courts Service of Ireland said it is now expected to be completed in mid-December and open next year.
The spokesperson said: “It will be in the spring of 2018 that we propose to begin the roll out of services there.”
According to the Limerick Leader, the courts complex is not likely to be “fully operational” until February or early March.
Limerick City and County Council is planning to convert the current courthouseinto a new council chamber before local elections in 2019.
