NI: Lord Chief Justice delivers winning verdict for charity
The Lord Lieutenant of Belfast, Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle CBE, was among guests who witnessed the presentation of a piece of stunning legal artwork to the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Declan Morgan, at a special reception in Belfast’s Royal Courts of Justice.
Co Down artist Stephen McClean’s painting of The Great Hall has now been published as a limited edition print by to raise funds and awareness for Northern Ireland’s leading mental health charity, Inspire.
Published by Hanna Fine Art in partnership with the Belfast Solicitors Association, only 95 prints have been issued, each individually hand-signed by Sir Declan to create an important and highly collectable piece of legal memorabilia.
The print was launched at a reception where Sir Declan was formally presented with print number one from the edition.
Addressing guests, Sir Declan said: “I am delighted to be associated with Hanna Fine Art and the Belfast Solicitors Association’s imaginative project in aid of so important a charity as Inspire.
“This print of Stephen McClean’s original painting is an impressive depiction of the Great Hall, which has been at the very heart of the Royal Courts of Justice since it opened in May 1933 and which has a unique place in our legal heritage.
“I am pleased to have contributed to the historic importance of this highly-collectable edition by signing the prints and I urge the legal profession to rally behind this project to raise funds and awareness for Inspire.”
