NI: Lord Justice Deeny to retire from the bench
Sir Donnell Deeny, Lord Justice of Appeal, is set to retire from the bench this autumn.
Lord Justice Deeny, who was appointed to the Court of Appeal bench in 2017, will turn 70 next April.
Born in Lurgan, he was educated at Trinity College Dublin and Queen’s University Belfast before calling to The Bar of Northern Ireland in 1974 and the Inner Bar in 1989.
He became a High Court judge in 2004.
The Office of the Lord Chief Justice today announced the launch of a recruitment process to fill the vacancy created by Lord Justice Deeny’s retirement.
A selection panel convened by the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Declan Morgan, will recommend a suitable candidate for appointment this autumn.
