NI: Loughinisland remedy and costs ruling delayed
A ruling on remedy and costs following the finding that a Police Ombudsman’s report into the 1994 Loughinisland massacre was “unsustainable in law” has been postponed.
Mr Justice McCloskey ruled last December that a 2016 report which found that collusion was an element in the massacre was unlawful and procedurally unfair, upholding a challenge brought by retired officers Ronald Hawthorne and Raymond White.
The case came back before the High Court on Friday to consider the issues of remedy and costs, but was postponed to allow the Ombudsman’s new legal representative time to read into the case.
It will come back before the court this Friday 19 January.
