Mary Robinson and Lady Hale to receive Hibernian Law Medals
Former Irish president Mary Robinson and former UK Supreme Court president Baroness Hale of Richmond will be the joint awardees of this year’s Hibernian Law Medals.
Mrs Robinson and Lady Hale will attend the Law Society of Ireland on Thursday 12 May 2022 to receive their honour, deliver public acceptance speeches and participate in a discussion reflecting on their distinguished careers in law, politics and civic life. Ms Justice Mary Irvine will chair the conferral ceremony.
Julia Launders, editor-in-chief of the Hibernian Law Journal, said: “This year’s recipients were chosen on the basis of their lifelong commitment to social equality, reconciliation and the advancement of justice for all citizens, as well as their unwavering integrity in the fulfilment of their public offices.
“We are delighted to continue this tradition of the Journal honouring those in our society who have distinguished themselves throughout their legal careers.”
The medal ceremony will take place at 6.30pm at the Law Society, with a drinks reception to follow. Admission is free, with CPD points available, but pre-registration via Eventbrite or by emailing events@hibernianlawjournal.com is advised.
