Matheson celebrates double win at European Tax Awards 2016
Dublin firm Matheson is celebrating a win in two categories at the International Tax Review European Tax Awards ceremony in London.
The firm triumphed in the Ireland Tax Firm of the Year and European Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Deal of the Year categories.
Since 2005, the awards have sought to recognise examples of superior local and regional tax advice in cross-border transactions, which are judged according to size, innovation and complexity.
Turlough Galvin, head of the tax group at Matheson, said: “We are delighted to be recognised as the Irish Tax Firm of the Year.
“Winning the European M&A Tax Deal of the Year for the second year in a row, this time for our role in the Willis Towers Watson $18bn merger, reflects the level of complexity of the transactions undertaken by our clients.
“To have been shortlisted for European Tax Policy Firm of the Year is also a remarkable achievement - we have put a great deal of effort and resource into that part of our business in recent years.”
Michael Jackson, managing partner at Matheson, added: “The accolades won by Matheson represent significant market recognition of the high profile work that we are consistently delivering for our clients, and the internationally focused, complex transactions that we regularly advise on.”
