Matheson launches 2021 diversity and inclusion scholarship in memory of Cara O’Hagan
Matheson has announced the 2021 launch of its diversity and inclusion scholarship in association with Trinity College Dublin (TCD), now renamed in honour of late Matheson partner Cara O’Hagan.
The Matheson Cara Scholarship is open to second year undergraduate law students in TCD, including students on the higher education access route or the disability access route to education schemes, mature students and students who face barriers in third level education.
The recipient will receive a place on Matheson’s summer internship programme in June 2022; a bursary of €5,000 for each academic year; an assigned mentor from Matheson to support them during their university journey; and access to Matheson’s online library and online learning platform.
Matheson managing partner Michael Jackson said: “The Matheson Cara Scholarship honours the memory of our late colleague and friend, Cara O’Hagan.
“Cara spearheaded and led many of Matheson’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, and was a mentor and role model who embodied the firm’s values of partnership, respect and diversity.
“This scholarship is now in its fourth year in association with Trinity College Dublin and we believe that renaming it will ensure that Cara’s passion for promoting diversity and inclusion within the legal profession and her pride in her alma mater will continue to be remembered.”
