Maxine Orr appointed as vice-president of Northern Ireland employment tribunal
Maxine Orr has been appointed as vice-president of the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal in Northern Ireland.
Mrs Orr, who was appointed as an employment judge in 2018, was yesterday sworn into her new office before the Lady Chief Justice, Dame Siobhan Keegan.
Prior to her appointment as a judge, Mrs Orr practised as a solicitor specialising in employment law. She was a partner and head of the employment team at Worthingtons Solicitors in Belfast.
Industrial Tribunals are independent judicial bodies in Northern Ireland that hear and determine claims concerning employment matters, including unfair dismissal, breach of contract, wages and other payments as well as discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, age, part time working and equal pay.
The Fair Employment Tribunal is an independent judicial body in Northern Ireland that hears and determines complaints of discrimination on the grounds of religious belief or political opinion.
