McDowell Purcell raises €7,500 for homelessness charity
McDowell Purcell (MDP) has raised €7,500 for homelessness charity Focus Ireland through a series of fundraising events.
The fundraising programme began with a nine-hour Spin-a-thon in the lobby of its Dublin office building, where staff members clocked a cumulative distance of over 700 kilometres while others ran a bake sale.
A representative from Focus Ireland attended the bake sale to inform staff about the importance of its fundraising efforts and a total of over €1,200 was raised over the course of the day.
The firm then went on to take on an even greater fundraising challenge, with 60 staff members participating in a four-hour charity hike.
The firm’s take on the Four Peaks challenge - dubbed “MDPeaks” - saw the firm close its doors for a day to allow staff members to participate in a gruelling hike across 14 kilometres of rough terrain (encompassing a 400 metre ascent) from Glendalough to Glenmalure.
A spokesperson for the firm told Irish Legal News: “Arising from the series of fundraising events, we are shortly making arrangements to send a cheque to our contact in Focus Ireland in the sum of €7,500.
“This sum is made up of staff donations, family and friend donations and a firm contribution.”
