McHale Muldoon establishes crypto fraud support team
McHale Muldoon Solicitors has established a specialist team to support victims of cryptocurrency fraud in Ireland.
The Dublin firm’s new crypto fraud support team brings together experience in financial crime, consumer protection and digital assets to provide those impacted by crypto scams with legal guidance and a potential pathway to recover lost assets.
Over €28 million was stolen from victims of investment fraud in Ireland in 2023, according to Garda figures — more than in 2021 and 2022 combined.
Since 2020, over 1,117 individuals have reported incidents of such fraud, with 44 per cent of these cases involving references to “Bitcoin” or “crypto”.
The law firm has launched a dedicated website at CryptoDisputes.ie to help educate the public about crypto scams as well as legal remedies.
Michael Muldoon, co-founder and principal of McHale Muldoon Solicitors, said: “Our mission at McHale Muldoon is to provide effective legal solutions to our clients.
“As the popularity of cryptocurrencies continues to surge in Ireland and around the world, so too has the prevalence of fraud and scams related to these digital assets.
“We recognise the urgent need for specialised legal recourse and are committed to being at the forefront of this emerging field, so that victims have the opportunity to reclaim their financial security and seek justice against those engaging scamming practices.”
