Media, Internet and Data Protection Bar Association to be launched
A new Media, Internet and Data Protection Bar Association (MIDBA) is to be launched by The Bar of Ireland this week.
The new specialist bar association is aimed at legal professionals who practice, or have an interest, in the areas of media, internet, and data protection law.
Claire Hogan BL has been elected as MIDBA’s inaugural chairperson ahead of a launch event in the Distillery Building on Thursday evening.
“Given the seismic changes in the media landscape in recent years, and with many of the largest technology companies having their European headquarters located in Ireland, it is essential that the legal community are kept up to date on developments in these complex and fast-moving areas of law,” she said.
“The Bar is ideally placed to take a leadership position in respect of litigation, advisory work, and in considering legislative developments.”
The launch event on Thursday 30 March, 4.30pm will also hear from Attorney General Rossa Fanning SC and Bar Council chairperson Sara Phelan SC.
