MHP Solicitors appoints John Shaw as managing partner
Ennis-based Michael Houlihan & Partners (MHP) has announced the appointment of John Shaw as the firm’s new managing partner.
He takes over the top role from Paul Tuohy, who continues at the firm as a partner specialising in litigation.
Mr Shaw, a former past president of the Law Society of Ireland, was previously managing partner of the firm from 2005 to 2009.
He has practised as a litigation solicitor at all levels and acted in many substantial High Court matters and, in addition to a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution, has extensive experience in several areas of public law.
He has been County Solicitor for the County of Clare since November 2007.
In his previous roles at the Law Society, Mr Shaw chaired the task force on the future of the Law Society, the committee which published the Code of Conduct for Council Members of the Law Society, and also chaired the Law Society’s guidance and ethics committee, resulting in the publication of the book Code of Conduct for Solicitors in Ireland.
