Miriam O’Callaghan to chair UCD Student Legal Convention
TV presenter Miriam O’Callaghan will host the University College Dublin (UCD) Student Legal Convention next month.
Ms O’Callaghan, who has presented RTÉ’s current affairs show Prime Time since 1996 and her own chat show, Saturday Night with Miriam, since 2005, will chair the third annual iteration of the student-led event.
The Convention, sponsored by Dublin firm A&L Goodbody, brings together students across Ireland, within and outside the study of law, for a day of discourse and engagement with some of the most distinguished figures in their fields.
Organisers say the 2016 event will include a series of talks, panel discussions and workshops, giving students the opportunity to engage with industry experts and develop their understanding of both the changing nature of the law and Ireland’s role in the international legal sphere.
Former judge and President of the Law Reform Commission of Ireland, The Hon. Mr. Justice John Quirke, will address the Convention, examining the ways in which the law and the legal profession are changing and the prospects for the legal profession in the future.
Fr. Peter McVerry has also been announced as a contributor to a general panel discussion on Equality in Ireland.
