NI: MKB Law director appointed president of Belfast Chamber
Gordon McElroy, director of Belfast firm MKB Law, has been appointed president of the Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
Mr McElroy was officially elected to the role at the Chamber’s AGM in the Europa Hotel on Friday, where he was joined by Chamber representatives as well as more than twenty members of the MKB Law team who came to support him.
The Chamber represents the interests of businesses across a range of sectors and works in partnership with organisations such as Belfast City Council and the NI Assembly to improve the prosperity of the city and promote Belfast as a leading trade and leisure destination.
Upon being presented with his Chain, Mr McElroy said: “It is such a great honour to be elected as President to the Chamber. When Anne Marie Kelly and I opened our law practice in Belfast 13 years ago, I would never have believed that we could become so integrated into the business life of Belfast!”
He went on to highlight the Chamber’s plans to improve access to the city, secure regeneration funds, and develop relationships throughout Belfast and the wider community.
One of his first engagements as President will be a roundtable event to discuss the potential expansion of Gatwick airport and the associated links between Belfast and the UK capital.
Mr McElroy will be supported in his role by the Chamber’s Executive Council and by the staff at MKB Law.
Anne Marie Kelly, director at MKB Law, said: “We are all extremely proud of Gordon, and know that he will do a fantastic job as President of the Chamber.”
