More child injury cases coming before Irish courts
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is being “more proactive” in prosecuting cases in which children have been injured, according to a Cork solicitor.
The Irish Examiner reports that Denise Kirwan of Comyn Kelleher Tobin Solicitors told a conference organised by the Bessborough Centre that more cases are coming to court.
She said that did not necessarily mean that more cases coming to the attention of medical professionals.
Ms Kirwan said: “We are seeing more prosecutions. I do believe that the DPP is becoming more proactive. I think a greater awareness has something to do with it.”
