More than 450k cases go through Ireland's district courts

More than 450,000 cases went through Ireland’s District Courts in 2014, according to figures published by The Irish Times.

There were almost 162,200 cases before District Courts in Dublin Metropolitan District, averaging at just over 9,000 cases for each of the district’s eighteen judges.

District 19, covering Cork City, had the second-highest number of cases at 33,687, or over 11,000 cases per each of its three judges.

In District 12, which covers Ennis, Kilrush, and Killaloe in Co Clare and Gort in Co Galway, had the highest case count for any district with only a single judge assigned at almost 15,000.
