More than 50 teams take part in O’Flynn Exhams-backed charity golf competition
More than 50 teams took part in this year’s Cope Foundation Golf Classic, a long-standing charity partnership between Cope Foundation and O’Flynn Exhams Solicitors.
The golf competition has raised over €1.6 million in 21 years. The money raised this year will go towards short breaks services for those with intellectual disabilities and/or autism and their families.
56 teams took part over the two days at Cork Golf Club, with Micheál Ó Mulláin, Shane Crossan, Conor Lupton, Sion Williams, Cian Duane and Frank O’Flynn representing O’Flynn Exhams.
The overall winning team was Manlift Hire, who accepted the Bord Gais Perpetual Trophy at Cork Golf Club. The team was represented by Donal Delaney, Noel O’Keeffe, Tim O’Donovan and Jim Hurley.
Mr Ó Mulláin, partner at O’Flynn Exhams, said: “We were delighted to once again sponsor the Cope Foundation Golf Classic which is always an enjoyable event for all concerned.
“Cope Foundation continues to provide vital services to the people of Cork City and County and it was great to see so many from the Cork business community support this worthy cause.”
John Clifford, head of fundraising at Cope Foundation, added: “It was a fantastic success with plenty of golfing talent displayed, outstanding comradery and of course, a lot of competition!
“Funds raised from the Golf Classic will go towards our short breaks and respite services – which are currently in huge demand.
“We are so grateful for the support we received, not only from the Teams, but also from the very kind donors that supported the event with generous contributions. With such support, we are confident that we will reach our €40,000 net target.”
