Mr Justice Brian Murray to be elevated to Supreme Court
Mr Justice Brian Murray has been nominated by ministers for appointment to the Supreme Court.
A judge of the Court of Appeal since November 2019, his appointment would fill the long-standing vacancy arising from the retirement of Mr Justice Liam McKechnie in April 2019.
Mr Justice Murray was educated at University College Dublin (UCD), the University of Cambridge and the King’s Inns.
He called to the Bar in 1989 and became a senior counsel in 2002.
The government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
