Mr Justice Horner appointed to Northern Ireland’s Court of Appeal
Mr Justice Mark Horner has been appointed as a Lord Justice of Appeal in Northern Ireland.
Previously a High Court judge, he was sworn into office today at a ceremony in the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast.
He graduated from Campbell College in 1974 and went on to study at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge from 1975 to 1978. He was called to the bar in 1979 and appointed a QC in 1996.
At the Bar, he had a wide and varied practice with a particular interest in commercial disputes, chancery and professional negligence cases and personal injury litigation.
Mr Justice Horner was appointed as a High Court judge in 2012.
His areas of special interest include rehabilitation of young offenders through sport, practice and procedure in Northern Ireland and other jurisdictions, chancery, commercial litigation and public law.
He is president of the Lands Tribunal and to date has been the judge in charge of the new Commercial Hub. He also led the working group on digitalisation of the court processes.
