Mr Justice Kevin Cross retires from the High Court
Warm tributes were paid to Mr Justice Kevin Cross this morning on his retirement from the High Court.
Mr Justice Cross, a graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) and the King’s Inns, called to the Bar in 1975 and to the Inner Bar in 1997. He was appointed to the High Court in 2011.
The judge heard tributes from Attorney General Paul Gallagher SC; Maura McNally, chair of the Bar Council; Michelle Ní Longáin, president of the Law Society; and Angela Denning, CEO of the Courts Service.
Ms Ní Longáin said: “The tributes you have heard today can only offer a brief snapshot of your varied and lengthy career, and we are indeed lucky to have had a judge with your commitment, your experience, your decency and humanity among the ranks of the judiciary.
“On behalf of the Law Society and the solicitors’ profession, I would like to wish you a long and happy retirement – insofar as you have that possibility doing a PhD – with your wife, Judge Alison Lindsay, an esteemed former Circuit Court judge, and your family.”
