Mr Justice Kinney appointed to NI Boundary Commission
Mr Justice Patrick Kinney has been appointed as deputy chairman of the Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland.
The judge, who has served on the High Court since December 2022, was appointed to the post by the Lady Chief Justice, Dame Siobhan Keegan, for a period of three years.
A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, he practised as a solicitor from 1985 to 2007 before becoming chairman of the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal, a position he held until 2012.
He was appointed as a County Court judge in 2012 and as a coroner in 2016. He was the assigned County Court family judge until 2021, sitting in the Crown Court, family and civil courts as well as hearing appeals from the District Court.
He was also a commissioner on the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC) until December 2016.
