Mr Justice O’Donnell delivers John M Kelly Memorial Lecture
Mr Justice Donal O’Donnell, a judge of the Supreme Court since 2010, delivered this year’s John M Kelly Memorial Lecture at UCD Sutherland School of Law.
Mr Justice O’Donnell is an alumnus of the School of Law and a former student of the late Professor Kelly.
Senior members of the judiciary, the law library and a great number of distinguished academics and legal professionals attended the lecture, which was introduced by Professor Paul O’Connor, former Dean of the Law School.
Mr Justice O’Donnell spoke on the issue of the international reach of the Irish Constitution, tackling questions including whether constitutional rights are restricted to Irish citizens or to all persons in the State, and in what circumstances constitutional rights and duties operate outside of Ireland’s borders.
The lecture can be viewed in full on the UCD website.
