Nasc to host migrant community event in Cork
Nasc, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre, is hosting a “One Stop Shop” event in collaboration with organisations throughout Cork to promote greater participation and integration of local migrant communities.
The event, on Wednesday 27 July, will also respond to the recent rise in queries from EU and UK nationals in relation to the Brexit vote.
Solicitor Cian Moriarity from Fachtna O’Driscoll Solicitors will be providing short free legal advice sessions on the night.
Other organisations taking part include Cork Citizens Information Service, Cork City Council (Social Inclusion), New Communities Partnership, Cork Volunteer Centre, Cork YMCA, Together Razem Centre, Cork Migrant Centre, Cork Education and Training Board, and Cork City Partnership.
Jennifer DeWan, Nasc campaigns and communications manager, said: “People who attend will be able to find out information about applying for citizenship, voter registration, volunteering, community engagement, legal advice and information, CV and jobs advice, and much more.”
The event forms part of a joint EU project, which includes several EU partners including Migration Policy Group, the Immigrant Council of Ireland, Migrant Rights Network (UK) and Objectif (Belgium).
The project is funded by the Rights, Equality & Citizenship (REC) Programme of the European Union and by the Open Society Foundation.
