Mr Faris, who qualified in 1977, was formerly a principal with Cleaver Fulton Rankin before setting up as sole practitioner of Neil Faris Solicitors.

In later years, he joined Hool Law as a consultant before retiring in January 2023.

He was a former commissioner of the Northern Ireland Law Commission.

Mr Faris and his wife, Mary Frances, were regular attendees of the Law Society of Northern Ireland’s annual conference abroad.

The Law Society said it “offers its deepest condolences to Mary Frances, his family, colleagues, and friends”.
