New Chief Justice to be named tomorrow
The next Chief Justice of Ireland is expected to be named by Cabinet tomorrow, The Irish Times reports.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said an appointment would be made by the end of July so as to make sure a successor is chosen before Ms Justice Susan Denham retires next month.
Supreme Court judges Mr Justice Frank Clarke, Mr Justice Donald O’Donnell and Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne are current favourites for the top judicial post, according to The Irish Times.
Ms Justice Mary Finlay Geoghegan of the Court of Appeal and Mr Justice Peter Kelly, president of the High Court, are also in contention.
