New firm to adopt flat fee structure for commercial litigation

A newly-established law firm has said it will shirk hourly rates for commercial litigation in favour of a flat fee structure which it believes will reduce financial risk for clients.
Fenecas Law was recently launched by Larry Fenelon SC, who previously founded Leman Solicitors in 2007 and led its merger with offshore law firm Ogier in 2022.
His new firm has said it will adopt the “innovative billing model” to avoid businesses being discouraged from taking litigation due to fears around high costs.
“Our aim is to provide the business community in Ireland with a swift, affordable and transparent service for contentious legal challenges,” Mr Fenelon said.
“For commercial litigation, which can be a financial minefield for Irish companies, we will offer alternative fee arrangements — AFAs — to the market based on stages, milestones and outcomes.”
The firm has also said it will “drive efficiencies through the use of AI and technology”.
