New Letterkenny courthouse building nears completion
Letterkenny’s new courthouse is nearly completed and the first sitting there will be held in December, the Donegal Democrat reports.
Work has been ongoing for over a year on the new building, which will have four courtrooms - more than twice as many as the old courthouse.
It will also have office space for courts staff and members of the legal profession, as well as enhanced facilities for the public.
The new building will be located on Main Road, a short walk from the former courthouse building on Justice Walsh Road.
A spokesperson for the Courts Service of Ireland told the paper: “Work on the new courthouse is nearing completion. In the coming weeks we will undertake a fit-out of the building and the transfer of offices etc. It is hoped the court will sit for the first time in December.”
